Comparisons are done word by word, which is generally more readable for prose than a character-level diff.
Is the comparison case-sensitive?
Yes, "Text" and "text" are currently treated as different words.

No. The comparison algorithm runs entirely in your browser using JavaScript — neither text box is ever sent anywhere.
